As plans were coming together and I almost bought my plane flight, I got a call from my mom telling me the restaurant (Gaetano’s) would be moving locations.  Same shopping center, different location.

Instead of going to Florence for the semester, I came to Torrance for the semester.  Slightly different experiences.  Although Florence for a semester would have been amazing, my way to Gaetano’s for the semester led to great things.  I developed a love for food, I developed an interest for the business (which motivates me today) and I ended up going to Rome that summer.

My Roman experience is what has led me to this blog.  The reason for this blog is to let you know about our regional dinner we had on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 and the same regional dinner next week on Wednesday, December 19, 2012.   
Back to 03, the day of my arrival, I got lost in the streets of Rome to run into the coliseum and the forum.    My heart, literally stopped at the sight of these structures.  The city is nothing short of amazing.

Along my journeys in Rome I met two twins I still keep in touch with, Franca and Chiara.  If you ever need a place to stay, they manage a bed and breakfast in the heart of the city.  Check it out, <a href="http://www.zolilla.it/">Zollila Bed and Breakfast</a>. Anyways,  upon meeting them a couple times, they took me out to dinner to a traditional Roman restaurant.   We sampled many items but a couple of the dishes we enjoyed that really stood out were the dishes that will be served next Wednesday during out regional dinner.

CARCIOFI ROMANI: Most of us receive canned artichoke hearts when dining out.  The difference between canned and fresh is like regular TV to HD TV.  The difference is obvious.  We take fresh artichoke hearts and sautee them in olive oil, garlic, white wine and fresh parsley.

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On Tuesday, December 4, we closed down our restaurant and had a company party at <a title="PV Bowl" href="http://pvbowl.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">PV Bowl</a>.</p>

<p>My mom, Dori, was surprisingly the top bowler. She made it known to everyone as she would bowl a strike and then point to the scoreboard while yelling, “another strike!”</p>

<p>We enjoyed lots of food in our private room, then karaoke&#8217;d until the night ended. We all had a blast.</p>

<p>One thing we like to do during the holiday party is to show a slide show culminating the year. We are very lucky to have such a great crew.</p>

<p>The best part about them is how much they care about people. Society calls our industry the “food business.” Really, it should be called the “people business.” From our cooks and dishwashers to servers and bussers, everyone touches guests in some sort of way. It’s something special to be apart of.</p>
